The cybersecurity researcher Dan Kaminsky has died

The cybersecurity community has lost its star, the popular hacker Dan Kaminsky has passed away.

The popular cyber security researcher Dan Kaminsky (42) has passed away. Dan is a star, a myth, and a beacon for us. At the moment the causes of death are not known, but it does not matter. Dan has left us an immense emptiness, the silence after his death is deafening.

I guess theres no hiding it now. We lost @dakami yesterday. One of the brightest lights in infosec and probably the kindest soul I knew. The vacuum he leaves behind is impossible to measure. Please keep speculation to yourself and be respectful of his family and friends.— Marc Rogers (@marcwrogers) April 24, 2021Dan Kaminsky was co-founder of the cyber security firm White Ops, but he worked for other major organizations in the industry, including Cisco, Avaya, and IOActive.

Dan Kaminsky was very active in the cyber security community, he was a regular speaker at major cybersecurity and hacking conferences, including Black Hat and DEFCON.

He is best known for his study on DNS cache poisoning and for his investigation into the Sony Rootkit attacks.

On June 16, 2010, he was named by Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) as one of the Trusted Community Representatives for the DNSSEC root.

When such a young person dies, it is impossible not to feel immense pain. I offer my condolences to his family.
